Overview
QuikClot Haemostatic / Homeostatic Dressing 4×4 Dressing is a sterile, soft white 4 in. × 4 in. (10cm x 10cm) nonwoven hemostatic dressing with an X-ray indicator, impregnated with kaolin — an inorganic mineral that activates Factor XII and accelerates the body’s natural clotting process. This advanced bleeding control dressing forms a robust clot quickly, allowing more time to manage other critical tasks during patient care.
Compared to standard gauze or other hemostatic devices, QuikClot demonstrates superior performance in reducing blood loss and forming stronger clots. Its use may help minimise exposure to bloodborne pathogens and shorten equipment decontamination times.
QuikClot EMS 4×4 Dressing features:
- Intuitive to use — same placement technique as standard gauze
- X-ray detectable strip for easy post-treatment identification
- May remain in place for up to 24 hours (refer to IFU for complete instructions)
- 2-year expiry from date of manufacture
Recommended Use – Smaller Surface Bleeding:
- Head lacerations
- Bleeding AV fistulas
- Ruptured varicose veins
- Nosebleeds
- Skin tears
- Other smaller nuisance bleedings
